Walking in Shropshire
The Walk
Park in the car park behind the Co-op. When standing in the car park, with the Co-op behind you turn left on to Aston Street. At the island go straight on into Stanton Road.
After a short distance, turn right signposted to the Industrial Estate, Lamledge Lane. The road bends to the right. Then the road forks into two, take the one right, up the hill. Go over the railway bridge. After walking for around 10 minutes you pass the Monument Carp Fishery on your right. Keep on the road and at the ‘T’ Junction turn right.
Keep walking along the road until you reach the main road, cross over and carry straight on passing farm buildings on your left which is Upton Farm. Walk along the road for around 10 minutes. At the ‘T’ Junction turn right. Keep on this road for around 15 minutes until you reach the main road, then turn left. This takes you back into Shifnal.
The Pub
Walk the short distance to the pub which is the Plough. From the Co-op on the High Street walk along the footpath away from the railway bridge. The pub is traditional with wooden beams. It has an atmosphere, being warm and inviting. There is a selection of wines, but the pub is renowned for its real ales.
Lyn says: This is a favourite walk for Shifnal folk. It is on roads so suitable when muddy. It is a flat easy walk, and great to do if you just have an hour to spare. If you don’t fancy a drink try the coffee shop Number 5 on your return into Shifnal. Highly recommended.
