Walking in Shropshire

The Walk

From the car park walk through the pub garden, skirting the pub on your left, and down the steps.  At the bottom of the steps turn right and walk clockwise around the lake. When you are almost around the lake, just before some steps up, take the footpath to the left, down a hill.  (There is a signpost here warning to beware of water).

Bridge over Hangman’s Pool, the lake by the pub

Follow the path.  When you reach the school, take the footpath to the left before the school.  Keep to the main path.  As you approach the main road take the path to the left under the subway. When you come up from the subway, keep straight on along the road until you reach some wooden gates.  Go through the gates.

If you take the middle path you go around the lake anti-clockwise.  This is the way we went.  If you want to go around clockwise, take the path to the left.

Follow the path, past the car park and anticlockwise around the lake.  Keep to the main footpath. When you reach the road, you need to step over the fence, then take a sharp left, through wooden gate.

On this path you go over two wooden bridges.

You emerge back on the road at the wooden gates.  Follow the road back under the subway.  When you emerge from the subway take the path left to the main road.  Turn right (Ricoh is opposite). Walk along the footpath until you reach the road to the pub on your right.

The Pub

Walking in Shropshire - Priorslee Pub - walking & wine

The pub is the Priorslee.  It is a Flaming Grille, but you are still made very welcome if you just want to pop in and have a glass of wine. People tend to walk around the lake, then use the pub. There is a nice beer garden for use in the summer.  The wine was £4.19 for a 1.75cl glass, Brancott Estate. It’s a good warm atmosphere.
