Along the walk look out for where sheep is, put your teddy there or yourself there, take a photograph and email it to us so we can link it to this walk.
Walking in Shropshire
Park on the main road (Victoria Road), opposite Jaspers Pub. With your back to Jaspers walk left towards the island. At the island take the first left and walk under the railway bridge to the next island. At the next island take the third exit. Shortly, on your left, you will come to a public footpath sign, follow the sign along a wide tarmacked path.
Walk along the tarmacked path for around 5 to 10 minutes. The road will come into two forks take the right fork. You will reach Manor Barns, take the kissing gate to the right and a footpath. You will reach a gate, turn right. Then go through a metal kissing gate (keeping to the right footpath not the footpath by the fence) and up past the sewage works which is on your left. It may be smelly, but this is not for long. Eventually you come to a concrete path, turn right. You will reach a metal gate and a stile, over the stile and turn left. (*see below)
You will see the stream on the left and the footpath bends right up a hill. Follow the path, eventually you will come to a kissing gate. Go through the kissing gate. Follow the path through two more kissing gates to a road.
At the road turn left. You pass Evelith Mill on the left. In line with the house of Evelith Mill, turn right down a bridleway. This is King Charles Wood. Follow the path until you come to a ‘T’ junction of paths. Go right. Over a footbridge over a stream and over a footbridge over a wear. Weave around what looks like a garden, through a wooden kissing gate, to the road and turn right on to the road signposted to Kemberton.
Walk along the road for a few minutes until you come to an opening on your right, with a public footpath sign, pointing back on yourself. Go right here down the enclosed path. You will come to a stile on the left. Over the stile where you will see oak trees on your right. At the 4th tree there is a public footpath sign on the tree. At this point follow the public footpath sign straight on.
Keep to the right field boundary, eventually you will come to a wooden stile. Over the stile, cross the road and through a kissing gate. Over the field following the path etched into the grass. Through some trees into the next field. The footpath crosses the field to a road. Turn right.
Walk along the road, at the next junction turn right. As the road drops down there is a metal gate and a stile on the left. Go over the stile. Then re-trace your steps back to Jaspers. (*see above)
The pub is Jaspers Arms. It has recently been refurbished. It is friendly and warm with nice staff. There is a good selection of wines.
Lyn says: A new walk for us, but covering sections of other walks. A good, flat walk, one which is easy to rack up your steps.
